HISTORY

The history of Leominster High School and the Center for Technical Education is long and involved.  Education started in Leominster in 1765, but only for boys.  High school education, as we know it now, came with the building of the “new” high school on West Street in 1906.  Starting in 1920 vocational training was offered.  In 1936, two buildings on Whitney Street housed the Saxton Trade School.

In 1963 with the building of a new “new” high school, both academic and vocational education came together.  Overcrowding required an addition to be constructed in 1978.

Leominster High School and the Center for Technical Education now serves over 2,100 students.

The history of Leominster High School is rich with tradition and accomplishment.  From graduates who reside in Leominster and in countries in every corner of the world, pride resonates.  Productive careers and interests including public service, law, nursing, medicine, administration, development and management, and support for profit and non-profit efforts directed at assisting people in all countries.
